Because I'm banned from commenting there, here's my reply to a stated question here:

Then why does Loncon lie to us? This is perhaps the core issue I fail to grasp. Lying takes so much time.

The simplest answer is that they're not lying, and that like other conspiracy theorists, you're so in love with your conclusion that you must find ways to contort reality to adjust it to your conclusion.

I seriously would like to see him try to hold a Worldcon. It wouldn't work, and he'd be constantly railing about how everyone else but him is an idiot for not doing what is so blindingly obvious to him, but it would be fun in a schadenfreude sort of way.

So now that people are seeing through the utter tosh and calling him for it, he's now turning this into a disability access issue which apparently he didn't want to do previously because.

Seriously. Give me strength.

TBH, I thought his initial post was a lot of angry venting. I'm guessing he's pretty disappointed at not being able to make the convention as he'd hoped and was in a bit of a sulk about it. Fair enough, one's blog is often a preferred spot for venting a bit of spleen. I'm the QUEEN of taking disappointment poorly, so I can empathize with that.

And he moved the goalposts and you want to call that out. Fair 'nuff.

But... beyond that, do you think it's really useful to keep drawing attention to the situation? Yes, you can certainly point to some of what he's had to say as a case of privilege in action and that makes us all look bad but, well, I'm a little worried that what I've seen while linkhopping is straying near the line that lies between eyeball-rolling and vindictiveness.

He vented. Fair enough. It looks to me like he screwed up his hotel booking and he's really angry. I would be too. His original whinge on the Loncon facebook page was annoying but nobody responded.

He think posted on his LJ and most people ignored it.

He's now posted 3 times on the Worldcon LJ about this and made a lot of complaints about lying and that's a red card for me. Especially his assertion that there is no lottery and everybody is being lied to. He's making stupid statements about London and a bunch of other stuff and I am sufficiently wound up about this now that I won't let it stand.

As of last night his problem is that he has mobility problems (I'm told he does) and that this is really the problem.

If there were problems with getting rooms for Fen with mobility problems I'm fairly sure that we'd be hearing a lot about it.

As far as I see he's making a lot of obnoxious, public, charges against the Concom that are completely unsubstantiated and I don't think he should be allowed to have his one man campaign unchallenged.

I'll add that I didn't get the hotel room I wanted. I was planning to share in the Ramada and all the Double Rooms were gone by the time Paul could sort out a booking. It's annoying, it's certainly inconvenient, but it's not the fault of the convention.

Ahh, I see. Thanks for the clarification. I'm not on the WorldCon LJ, so haven't seen any of that.

As with The List That Must Not Be Named, it isn't necessarily a bad thing to skip ;)

He also made sweeping unsubstantiated statements that were simply not true (one of which covered me), and when called on it said what he said wasn't what he meant. He took a mistake by [livejournal.com profile] fjm and started quoting that as official word of the Loncon committee in a forum where she was unlikely to be able to see it and correct the mistake. He also completely ignored her statement in the same comment that "-the committee and staff--we're asked not to book the closest hotel". Why on earth would the Loncon committee be asked not to book the closest hotel (which must be true as it was said by a Loncon committee member in the same comment he has been quoting) and sneakily reserve rooms in the closest hotel for their family and friends?

I normally don't unscreen unsigned comments, and I won't do it at all in [livejournal.com profile] worldcons, but this seemed relatively legitimate, and also, LJ has been randomly logging people out lately, so you can end up posting anonymous comments by accident.

Wow, what interests me here is the phrasing of the problem and the problem itself is almost identical...

Hmmm... to paraphrase Lady Bracknell - to have one Worldcon Hotel booking get screwed up is unfortunate, to have two could be considered careless.

He's been making the same complaint at least since ConJose won (i.e when I first became aware of him). I suggest you just ignore the perp, as his behaviour is unlikely to ever change.

I've had a helava time getting a hotel room for the Spokane Westercon, and because we never did get anything at the con hotel (and Moose was a little kid and so non-con hotel was not an option), we ended up not going. It was one of the reasons I didn't vote for them for Worldcon. I didn't like the way the hotels were spread out.
But I'm on the Committed anyway. AND the hotel spread will definitely be ugly. The Party Hotel is no where near the Convention Center. And because of Big Harold, we need the hotel closest to the convention center. He was not happy that for San Antonio, I chose the hotel where all the evening events were, rather than the hotel nearest the convention center. But he did admit it was convenient for a lot of reasons, so only grumbled some.
And we won't go into how far our hotel was in Glasgow. We had to take a taxi almost every time. Walking was barely feasible.
But he sure seems to not pay attention to all the notes from the committee about when the rooms are opening up. I know it is hard, I really had to scramble for Gally, but you have to pay attention, set your alarm clock, and sign up ASAP. Everyone else is.
