The wire through the brim of my Jacaru Australia hat (pictured in the user icon) broke a few days ago, and while it's not that noticeable (it's at that back of the brim), this was a sign that I should consider replacing it. It looks like the cost of shipping three hats is the same as one hat, so I bought three. Of course, shipping from Australia isn't fast, but I'm not complaining. The Pack o' Hats arrived yesterday, and so I should be set for some years to come as long as I don't get unlucky have have a hat fly off my head and underneath a car or something like that.

Of course, I could also just buy a broad-brimmed hat locally, but I don't like the styles I've seen in the stores here. I'm comfortable with that Australian hat. As it happens, when I'm just around the house this summer, I've been wearing the beach shoes I got during the last Australian trip, so I've been dressed Australian literally head-to-toe.

We visited Australia for Y2K (by far our longest trip, and it seems so long ago). Among other things, we each brought back a hat. Since we aren't as stylish as you, our hats haven't gotten much wear and are in fine condition in case we ever encounter a pack of Koalas.

I get my straw hats from Peters Brothers downtown. The brimwire on my current one (the second) broke late in the summer of 2019, and last year was not exactly the ideal time to replace it, so I need to get that taken care of soon.

That's sensible. David favors these Greek fisherman hats. When we were in Vancouver, BC, in 1989, he tried one on in a shop. We both liked the way he looked in it so he bought it and has been buying replacements for years. When we were on an Alaskan cruise for our tenth wedding anniversary, his hat flew off his head and into the water, sadly. (He replaced it.)

The only problem with him wearing that hat is that now, at conventions, he gets mistaken for George R.R. Martin. (Which is better than being mistaken for someone skanky.)
