I was mostly a spectator this long holiday weekend (except during the grocery shopping trip), but I have had Words with Kayla, who was changing earrings multiple times per day, for good and sufficient reasons. Unfortunately, both earring holes ended up bleeding a little bit. We applied witch hazel and I've suggested that we leave the simple pearl studs in place for a few days and apply the Claire's Pierced solution 2-3x/day to help them heal a bit.

In the meantime, I need to get some sleep so I can get back on my normal work schedule tomorrow.

LOL! What, you mean you aren't me, myself and I?

I have an alter ego that isn't me, but what I could be. His name is Lewis John Laubenheimer. I sometimes have him as my gaming persona, and that will be my name if I ever transition.

Yep. There are people who have read and heard me referring to "the other one" in the third person and have fretted that I'm MPD or something like that. It's more of a bookkeeping device, or compartmentalizing.

Kevin is always here, and so is Kayla.

LOL!

Some people don't seem to realize that you can have multiple identities and still be just one person.I'm one person at work, another with my friends, another when gaming online, and another at conventions. Yes, there is a mental shift when I let various identities come to the fore, but I ultimately still me, just work-me, fan-me, gamer-me, etc.

Do you normally have problems with earrings in your ears? The reason I ask is that I am sensitive to metals against my skin. (I have to keep a cover on the chin rest of my violin. The cover extends down to also cover the metal supports which keep the chin rest on the violin. I am allergic to the nickel coating. Without the cover, my violin hickey gets nasty and may get infected.) I've always had problems with earrings. My solution now is to keep a tube of hydrocortisone cream by my earrings and dip the wire or post in that before inserting the earring. That takes care of that, but it's due to a skin problem - a common one, from my understanding.

We have heretofore had no adverse metal reactions. What I think happened was that my earrings were getting tangled in my hair, and when brushing it, I pulled on them. Also, I'm pretty sure that I snagged the earrings on my dresses a couple of times while changing clothes. So for now I'm chalking this up to mechanical trauma, and I need to take more care.

I imagine this will happen less as your earring holes get older and you get more practice taking earrings in and out, and dealing with clothes and hair etc. It's even more difficult with winter coats, hats, and scarves in the mix. I lost a wired earring once when a scarf caught it and flung it into the slush, and I stepped on it. I put rubber backs on wires now, but if I caught one badly enough to pull on the ear, that would still be painful.
